Importing private key issue

Hello,

I had a pretty active node back in January - May 2024, started sub 300 nodes. I just saw there’s been major updates and a points program so I wanted to get started again with the same key I used back then. However, when I import the .json private key and try to connect I get "Authentication Error: Unable to connect to the network. Please try again.

  • Any idea how to solve this?
  • Are there no rewards for running the node early on? I see no points etc. in the dashboard.

Thanks!

See things about a .pem file, back then all I got was a .json file and a 161 letter long key that wasn’t importable itself. The key string self wasn’t importable but the .json file should work right?

on my end, windows 10, aiOS app allows to import both .pem and .json file, what version are you using ?

Hi Dvd3, the retroactive points reward you are referring to has not been issued yet. When you originally downloaded the node you should have received a .pem file, this file format is the current supported method for importing. What is your device type?

I can’t import my private key either, keeps saying ‘invalid format’. Can anyone help?

where can i find private key on desktop for mac version? thanks

Hey, I have the same issue, the public key is 160 characters and the private one has 248. Did you figure out how to import them?

Thanks for the guide, but seems that it does not work for OP issue. The keys are not generated in the Roaming folder. I am running the node since Match 2024 and back then the format was 160 character key for the public and 248 for the private one stored in .json file i.e., {“privateKey” : “248char”, “publicKey” : “160char” }. Would you know how to import this key into the new format node? Thanks in advance!
